A message from Jacob :
I grew up in none other than Memphis, Tennessee, and I can sincerely say “Home is where the heart is.” After being in Nashville for over 6 years now, I am finally starting to warm up to the idea of being referred to as a ‘transplant’. Fellowship is how I choose to spend my spare time. Whether it’s networking out in the business world, watching or playing in a game, or being in and around the music world – with people is where my passion lies. Listening and playing music is where I am at peace. I have learned to play anything with keys or strings. My grandfather put a guitar into my hands during a troubled time as a teen, and boy did he know what he was doing! Being rooted in gospel and coming from a place like Memphis makes it hard to put a deaf ear on the music that soothes my soul, so know that you can usually find me on I-40 somewhere between Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash.
My family consists of my mother Linda and father Eddie, who have been happily married for 30 years. My father has worked at FedEx for over 25 years, and my mother is a retired school teacher who has started a successful business dealing with antiques and furniture restoration. I am the middle child, which may have some direct influence on me being a “people pleaser”. My brother Jonathan is is twenty months older than I am, which translates to one year difference in school. Being this close in age sure does have its advantages and downfalls, but coming into this world with a built-in best friend is nothing but a privilege. He is the Director of Business Development at Big League Movers in Memphis and Atlanta and has a beautiful wife Kelly and a 16-month-old named Jackson. Last up is our little blessing, Mary Grace; she currently in college studying agriculture. I attribute all of my personal success to the foundation set by these four people and could not have made it this far in the business world if it were not for their positive outlook and influence.
6th Man has been in business since 2013. I decided on this industry because it is what I know. I grew up moving furniture for a friend’s father’s company in Memphis, and when I had the opportunity to start my own moving company I jumped at the chance! As cheesy as it may sound, I started my own business so that I could help others. Anyone who has moved can tell you it is one of the most stressful days you will ever encounter. If we can help someone out to relieve their stress, then we have done our job! Our company specializes in moving people from A to B, but we do much more than that. As part of our customer-driven process, we custom fit our crews to our client’s needs and provide flexibility and understanding in a stressful time. The best piece of advice for moving that I could offer is to PLAN AHEAD. We understand that moving an entire household can be a daunting task, so the further ahead you plan and the earlier you begin discussing your move with a professional mover, the better prepared you will be for a successful transition.
