We would like to give a shout out to Tennessee State University’s head basketball couch, Dana Ford. Ford is up for two awards this year; the Hugh Durham Award, which goes to the top mid-major coach of the year, and the Ben Jobe Award, which goes to the top minority coach in NCAA Division I. We had the opportunity to sponsor Coaches vs Cancer this past fall, where Ford was a panelist among a few other top coaches in Tennessee, and he was sure to discuss his big plans for the Tigers. After going 5-26 in his inaugural season as head coach, Ford orchestrated the largest NCAA turnaround from 2014-15 to 2015-16 with a 15-win difference. Many believe this turnaround is a sign of good things to come for the Tigers.
It’s a good feeling to not be in the basement of the league anymore and to have the chance to get up to the top someday. The recognition feels good because it shines a positive light on our university. Any time Tennessee State gets some good news I think that’s really good for our university as a whole.” Dana reports the the Tennessean
